vintage beach wedding flower crown

Chris and Annahita were married on a windswept day in June at the cool Lobster Shack at East Quay in Whitstable. They didn’t want to have a themed wedding but took lots of inspiration from Mexican and Italian weddings to create a truly unique look. The venue ceiling was hung with colourful crepe paper garlands and pom poms. They designed all their own stationery – menu placemats, mexican lotto game, questionnaire, mexican doll table numbers – all of which you can now buy yourself from their stationery design company CL.AM. They also painted wooden boards for the entrance and the whole style gave the day a relaxed Mexican festival feel.

Annahita wore a stunning vintage Edwardian dress from Elizabeth Avey Vintage Dress Company with a vintage cathedral length veil. Her hair was braided and the braids filled with colourful flowers to create a flower crown, which immediately brings to mind Frida Kahlo. Chris wore a suit from Burberry with a white crochet tie by Marwood and his shoes were blue suede brogues from Jack Wills, where he works as a Graphic Designer. The incredible bouquet and all the flowers were done by the couple and their family the day before with flowers from supermarkets and florists. We were lucky enough to sneak outside, despite the wind blowing quite a gale, and get some photos on the beach of just the two of them during the day.

After dinner they had a quiz which everyone found really fun, and in the evening they had the Gold Diggas play, an offshoot of the Hackney Colliery Band, which were fantastic and kept the party atmosphere going.

They had this very lovely thing to say about me: “We used Tarah Coonan as our wedding photographer, after seeing the amazing photos she’d taken of our friends Maya & Adam’s wedding. She was so down to earth and easy to get on with, she put us completely at ease and we’re over the moon with the photos she’s given us – it’s really helped us piece the day back together!”

Here is a selection of images from their gorgeous, colourful, happy day:
